Iran's export to Central Asia, Caucasus, Russia up by 18% in year to March

Tehran, IRNA – Iran's exports to Central Asian states, the Caucasus, and Russia increased by 18% in the Iranian calendar year 1401 (ending on March 20) compared to the previous year, according to a senior official at Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO).

TPO's director of the department of Central Asia, Russia, and Caucasus Rahmatollah Khormali said that Iran's exports to the three regions reached $3.2 billion in the year to March.

Khormali added that Iran's exports to these regions had increased by 40% in the Iranian calendar year 1400 compared to the year before that.

Exports to Central Asia, Russia, and Caucasus rose by 18% year on year in the calendar month to late April, he said. 

Russia was the biggest importer of Iranian goods in the region with $745 million worth of purchases in the year to late March, an increase of 30% compared to the year to March 2022, Khormali said. 

He added that the Republic of Azerbaijan with $650 million, Armenia with $465 million, Turkmenistan with $460 million, and Uzbekistan with $290 million were the next largest importers of Iranian goods over the same period.
